NobelBiocare bashing boring and unnecessary...

I have been coming to this website off and on for the last few months. It is somewhat informative and pretty humorous. I like the videos. The blogs are not that interesting, in fact I am quite under whelmed. A little too much bitching and petty squabbles. The whole industry has a habit of nitpicking and whining about things that arent relevant to the day to day running of a dental practice.I find the continuous NobelBiocare bashing to be boring and unnecessary. Yes Nobel has made and will continue to make bad business decisions in their running of the company. They are a major corporation that has to please a lot of temperamental dentists. This is a hard job. When push comes to shove they are still a great implant. I predominately use NobelBiocare, but I also use Strauman as a second implant. I am not saying they are the best but they are consistent and reliable.A previous blogger made a big stink about GP placing their own implants. Big deal! We have GP s doing insurance work for almost free and we have GPs practicing as Prosthodontists. There is more then enough work for all of us.

I find your defense of Noble to be most interesting. My first thought was you were an employee of Nobel. After reading your whole comment about GP’s placing implants I would bet there is definitely some connection between you and Nobel.

What is your feeling about Neoss?
By Frank Policano DDS, July 29, 2008
First Off I am not in any way employed by NobelBiocare or any other implant company. I have not restored any Neoss implant restorations. I have read up and talked to my Neoss rep and it looks like an interesting implant. As I mentioned before I am not getting on a soapbox endorsing any implant company. In the long run they are all equal.

I am not sure about your claim that all implants are equal. There are some really bad implant companies out there. Nobel is a good one I agree, but Neoss is just as good at half the price. You should really try a case.

Do you place your own implant? Are you a Prosthodontists?
By Frank Policano DDS, August 7, 2008
I do not place my own implants. I work with an incredibly gifted periodontist who makes my life so easy. I am a GP. I really do not need to tool up for another implant company.

I just came across this blog and I have a question for you. Are you saying you can get the same result from a bicon as that of NobelBiocare or Strauman?

I don't think you know what you are talking about

A skilled dentist with a good lab can use any implant system and get good results

Do you prefer screw retained or cementable? I am a big custom abutment man myself
.
By Frank Policano DDS, December 17, 2008
Screw retained is the most reliable way to go. Retrievability is important to me. But A custom abutment is a viable choice. I will sometimes do cementable crowns when necessary.

Have any of you guys tried any of those China labs for your lab work?
By Linda Fabiano, December 28, 2008
The esthetics of a screw-retained case does not come close to a cementable one. Filling in occlusal holes with composite and ridge laps are unhygienic.
By the way I would never use anything from China.
