Implants are simple

By David Schwartz
October 24, 2007
I am a general practitioner who has been placing implants for 15 years. I find the whole procedure to be simple and in fact over rated by the industry. I place my own implants, prep my own abutment posts and have my lab make me the crowns. I have no need for Periodontist or oral surgeons to place any of my implants. They are totally unnecessary. I have a 100% success rate without any implant failures for 15 years. I charge the price that any specialist does for implant placement. Nobelguide is a tool for immediate loading screw retained hybrid style bridges. Who wants that? The parts are too expensive and the stents are way overpriced. I do my own immediate load cementable bridges and have never had a problem. I challenge anyone to prove to me that any of these new fangled cat/scan stent bogus systems are any better than experience and common sense.

David, where are you located? I need an implant

Is this a real post or made up to insight others to post? This type of unsubstantiated nonsense is quite unproductive and slanderous to the dental profession at large. If in fact this so called dentist is experiencing this magnificent success I believe it behouves our profession and the public to evaluate his charts, observe his surgical and clinical techniques and interview his patients so that ALL of us can learn to do implant dentistry without any failure or complications. I suggest for legal purposes the ADA, AAP AAMOS, ICOI, AO, IAID, etc investigate this doctors practice and claims so that the rest of us can stop our mal-practice

I think this guy is real....even though it's possible he isn't using his correct name, I think he or she has based these comments on actual experiences. Come on...let's not kid ourselves, you and I know there are GP's that are performing these procedures that really should not be.

You know I have been noticing for years now the bone loss on NOBEL implants. Its amazing that my colleagues continue to use this implant. No matter what you do you will get the bone loss. Number one implant company! You know what I say number 5 Implant company Astra or even number 15 implant company Biohorizons. Check out the design on them. Zero bone loss = not having to explain to my patients why they see metal in tooth number 9. In my opinion other companys have more research and better results. I would like to hear your opinions....

Yeah OK your kidding right? Let me guess you are placing MIS implants or Implant direct too right. Please tell me how your 2 years of less training makes you better than me. You charge 1/4 less because thats all your practice brings in. If you want I would love to teach you how to charge 3000 an implant, I will even send my Nobel rep over to comp the parts on your next Nobelguide case. 15 years of experince huh? Will see when you hit the nerve how quick you are to NOT use a stent or scan. Good Luck to you and thanks for making all of our insurance premiums go through the roof...

Bone loss is the norm and has been for years. If you have an issue go back to school to learnhow to place. Oh and you said it best number 15... Bio Who? Is it BiCon Bio HOrizons, BIO Failure.. Nobel has been and always will be number one.

OK OK Relax "Implant Guy" where are u from Brooklyn. Take it easy all I asked was for others opinions. Any response to the Research part of my questions...Last I checked Nobel lost sight of that...And please don't come back with how great Nobel Guide is....You can't take from simplant and get the credit...

By Implant Man, November 19, 2007
Its actually "Implant Man" and I am from New York City (Central Park). As far as the research Nobel has always been focused on that. Nobel Guide is great in my eyes but so is Simplant. To me it dosen't matter where they took it from the fact is... they have it. As far as the bone loss my partners and I have been doing a lot of research on all implants and Biohorizons failed. Astra on the other hand has been standing up pretty strong. I am uncovering a case this week and will keep you posted. To give you a bit more background we have been using Nobel for 10 years and have no problems with failures. We do have bone loss but up until now so did everyone. 10 years ago it was NobelPharma and Implant Innovations. Luckily for us we choose Nobel. I think its best not to even bring up 3i especially since the NT disaster and now..the new nano tite....the next disaster. If you want to talk about research lets talk about the yellow labs currently walking (jumping) around with the nanotite implants. I hope they don't fall out while eating a bone!!!

Bone loss? I have never had any bone loss in my entire career of placing impplants. I placed Corevent, Dentsply, Paragon, Centerpulse, Zimmer and now Implant Direct without a single failure. Why waist all that money on Nobelbiocare implants when you can get results like this with a less expensive implant.

Dr. Tanzi....or should I say Mr. Niznick. Please try not to promote your garbage implant on another web site. If given 100 million dollars one should retire and not spend his life acting like a fool. If Michael Jordan would have left as bull he wouldn't look as stupid as he does now after trying baseball and bowling. You should learn from that and take your money and move to Mexico!

I resent the name calling. I have an opinion which is mine and mine alone. I chose to share it on this website which as far as I understand if for that very purpose. Being called a vicious derogatory name is not necessary or productive. I meant what I said and stand by my claim that I do not have any case failures. Every case worked out regardless of any implant complications or implant rejection.

I agree with you Dr. Schwartz. More power to you.

I just joined this website and this is possible the most ridiculous garbage I have ever read. I was very impressed with this website until I read crap like this on the site. I find it hard to believe this could possibly be true. It must be a joke. I notice that no one has posted on this in months so I will assume the prank is over with,

What an absolute A--hole.  It is dentists like you that give the industry a bad name. I specialize in remaking your cases.  I cannot tell you how many patients come in my door with crap in their mouth put in by dentists like you. Failing implants, horrible esthetics, pain and discomfort are just the tip of the iceberg of what I have seen.

Yo dude, take a chill pill.. There are plenty of GP’s placing implants. This guy may be a little off base with his post but I think maybe you are taking things a little too seriously. This is not the downfall of dentistry.
